Back in the groove

I think I'm back in the groove since my Surgery.. I'm feeling much better. Just a little uncomfortable in the tummy when I have my tight Jeans on. LOL

I finished this She Art Gal this morning and my Cat's Eye's Whimsy Portrait yesterday.. and another Portrait called "Adversity" this week.. It felt good to get all messy again and have paint under da finger nails. LOL

I used Iridescent Water Color Paint on the gals eyes. I just bought this paint for like $6.00 . They come in pan's and you get 21 little pans. what a Gonga I think!!

This gal came about because I'm going through a lot once again.

Our Lawsuit against this woman who stole our money and made us move from this house we had

just moved into isn't going so well. It's a red neck town where the Court is. Everyone knows everyone else and palms are greased. If you know what I mean. Well our Attorney is no longer our attorney and no one wants to take the case. This means if we don't find another attorney the gal can get away with murder. Murder I say because she killed my beloved cat Missy.. ohhh just thinking about this all drives me crazy and traumatizes me all over again..

anywho when I was creating the below portrait I was trying to give myself some courage. It worked for a little bit. LOL

Feeling Better and doing some work now

I'm feeling so much better and getting some work done finally. Thank you all for your well wishes..

I'm trying to get back to my Tag Making, Scrapbooking and Card Making. I have been so consumed with drawing , painting and Art Journaling I had left the other for a bit.

so anywho I decided to get into the Grungy Monday Challenge over at Linda's Studio L3.. You were suppose to use Tim's Crackle Paint and do his Resist Technique. You will find it here.

I came up with this Tag for Valentines day.. Not overly done like I usually do but I'm out of practice.

After creating this tag I went over it with a layer of Glitter Paint.. boy is it glittery!! LOL

Still Recuperating

I'm still recuperating from the Gall Bladder Surgery. I tell ya this has been no picnic in the park. I'm starting to feel a little better but my Mojo has upped a left and went to Tahiti I think!! LOL I sit in my Studio , look at all my supplies and say to myself " Now What"! I did try to do one of my Whimsy Portraits and spilled paint and ink all over it. That one went into the garbage for sure! Even Gesso couldn't save it. So what's a gal to do.. I say Art Journaling is the answer. I grabbed my Journal and gave it a go. Got all done and then stamped my sentiment and woops It was all crooked!! Great ending to a fun Journal Spread.. NOT!!

This Spread needs more. I just am so uninspired right now.. I will come back to it when I'm feeling better I guess.. Most of the pain from the Surgery is gone. I am very uncomfortable in my Tummy. My appetite is practically nill and I'm still sleeping a lot. Thanks everyone for their warm wishes.. I received a few Get Well Cards and that lifted my spirits.. I wonder if it's unusual to get the blues like I have after a Major Surgery.. You gals let me know huh.. I have the blues bad.... Trying to snap out of it..

I do have a Whimsical Drawing in the works but I'm taking it slow. In fact everything I'm doing lately is so slow. I have that A type personality and this being down is not to my liking at all!! Okay I'll stop whining now..

New Style and my Surgery

I'm recuperating from Gal Bladder Surgery and have created notta the past week.. I did have my hubby bring down from my Studio some supplies to see if I could even draw right now. I can't.. most any movement hurts me. They were suppose to just make three tiny incisions but if something is going to go wrong it will go wrong with me. The Doctor had to cut open my whole stomach just about to take the Gall Bladder.. He said there was too much scar tissue from a previous surgeries.. That would be when I had a Pain Pump inside me. What a fiasco that was when it got infected!! another story for another day. LOL

anywho here I am in bed with two huge incisions and my whole stomach is black and blue.. I can't move for the pain!! They were suppose to keep me in the hospital but I put up a big fit and asked to go home. They finally agreed. When I found I was running a temperature I cringed. so afraid I might have to go back to the hospital and stay.. The Surgeon said it was normal to run a temperature right now but if it goes over 100 degrees to call him.. It stays between 99 and 100 and all the digits in between. I have been taking aspirins to break the fever but so far not so good..

so anywho again here are a couple of projects I had finished just before I went this Tuesday for the Surgery.

I don't particularly like the background on this.. too dark..

This Journal Cover with the blank face gal is my new Style ..

My Hubby doesn't like them.. I get the " its nice" routine when I showed him..

usually it's a bit more then just "It's nice" and he walks away. ROFL!!

I remember doing that as a child with my Mom. oh what a time I had with paste she had made from scratch

from flour and water. I usually got it all over me.. I haven't changed much now at 60 I get all mediums all over me.. LOL

I altered this domino for a swap at a Yahoo group I'm in

I used Alchohol Inks and Stamped with Versa Mark ink then wet embossed it.

cool huh?

and that is what I had been up to before last Tuesday when I had Surgery..

Now all I need is for this pain to subside and a bit of energy..

oh yeah and where oh where did my MOJO Go?

Has anyone seen it??

I did not leave it at the hospital, nor at Wally World where we went on Monday..

New Year's Journal entry

I was playing in my New Journal and came up with this.. one of my resultions is to write more in my Journals using my own handwriting which I hate. LOL so I stamped and wrote.. maybe I will write a whole paragraph some day.. ROFL!!..

Last night I had a friend over and we played until the wee hours of the morning. well I only got one ATC Card done as most of the night we were talking, drinking and eating. LOL

Big Eyes

Everyone use to say when I was younger that I had the biggest eyes. I wore lots of eye makeup to bring them out.. I knew they were my best asset.. well besides my big boobs. LOL Now I don't bother with the eye makeup any more. I don't know why I stopped. Maybe it's all the wrinkles and eye make up looks quite funny over the wrinkles. ROFL!! well anywho I am into painting these big eyed gals. Here is one I just finished.

My Christmas Angel

I've been busy with Christmas and the shop but I had to do another painting for Christmas. I came up with this Christmas Angel after taking a Workshop from Suzi Blu.. She is such a wonderful mixed media Artist. I love her work.. Her classes are very good. Her style is different from Tamara who is my Mentor and my first Mixed Media Teacher. I like learning different styles and then applying it to my own style. I worked and worked on this and finally accomplished hands!! They look a little warped but hey it's my first time doing hands like that.. wooohoo !! at least they do look like hands and not claws this time. LOL

I used Molding Paste for her Wings.

Over the Molding Paste I added Gold Mica Flakes..

In real life it looks so cool but you can't really tell with

my Lousy Camera.

Art Journaling into the New Year

I just started a New Journal.. Well I have about 5 going. All different sizes, textures of papers and brands.. LOL I got from one to the other doing my Art Journaling. This new book is going to be mostly pictures of me, my hubby and our Fur Babies. So I decided to start it off with a Christmas Spread and go into the New Year. The faces are very blurry on this . I think it was because on my Lousy Camera the flash went off and blurred them.. boooo on my camera once again!! LOL

I used Acrylics on this spread. On the Stencils work I used Pan Pastels. I need to get me more of these. I love love them!!

Does anyone know why in Blogger I can't see where I do my links or my pictures are coming out in Code.. where is my toolbar.. what's happened??? anyone know how I can get this back.. My blogger has gone wacky!! LOL

In another Class

I'm currently taking Suzi Blu's class on Portraits and I love it!! She works with Prisma Color Pencils.. I keep wanting to use my water color crayons because that is what I'm used to . but I'm making myself stay away from them and use the prisma color pencils and acrylics. Acrylics and me don't get along too well so this is quite a challenge. With the water color crayons their forgiving and you can change something if you work quickly. The other mediums what you do is what you get. LOL Especially when you put a layer of Clear Gesso down. It's clear but not smooth. more like sand paper. Suzi uses the clear gesso for texture. I used a tiny bit on this but will learn to use more I'm sure.

I'm on the third part of the lessons but need to go back as she has other homework I didn't do.. My dog ate it!! LMAO!! j/k!

This class is really good and quite a compliment to Tam's Workshops I took. I'm so glad I took those as I know a little bit about portraits already.

Day #1 Tim Tag Finished

I got another Tim Tag done this evening. It's Day #1.. I used like 5 dies to create this.. The Tattered Pine cone was a blast to use.

As you can see it's already in our Tree

I also complete a Portrait. These are Dollies and I'm taking a Workshop learning how

to create these. I used my Watercolor Crayons but Ady is teaching me how to use

Acrylics, Prisma Color Pencils and Copics. I'm waiting for some Supplies to come in before I start

Another Tim Tag

I created another one of Tim Holtz's Tag for his 12 Days of Christmas. This one took like forever to do.. It has a million and one parts to it. I used my Vagabond and my Cricut for the Die Cuts.

My Hubby and I just finished Decorating our Tree and this Tag and the others

are now sitting proudly in it..

I want to start on his Day 10 tag but need to wait for the wee hours when the house is nice

and quiet.. LOL

I'm still at it at a snails pace creating the Tags that Tim Holtz is giving tutorials on. This is day two I believe.. This tag was sooo much fun to make. I did the deer backwards but shhhh don't tell. LOL

The burlap on the top went to an old bag of rice I had saved. It broke my heart to tear this up but hey do anything for the sake of art!! Right? ROFL!!

12 Days of Christmas

Tim Holtz is once again doing his 12 days of Christmas on his blog. I have done day 4 and 5.. I'm waiting for some dies I ordered to do the other days.

This is day 5 where we worked with his reflections stamp and alcohol inks

I used his Tree Die and the snow writer with some Diamond Dust for glitter on the tree

I also went around the edges with red stickles.

It needs something more don't you think?

Here is day 4

I used my Cricut to make the snowman . The Cartridge I used is called

Christmas Cheer.

There is glitter embossing powder on his scarf.

These are going on my Tree this year.

Finished a Whimsy Gal

I finished this the other day but as I was saying in another Blog Post I've been sick. I haven't had the want or energy to even take pictures. This whole week I finished two pieces which is not like me at all.. I finally pushed myself to take and then edit the picture of my Latest Whimsy Gal. I did this on Hot Press Poster Board I found at Hobby Lobby. I love love hot press paper so much more then cold press watercolor paper but it's pricey for sure!! On my Christmas Wish List I have a block of it . You don't even want to know the price of this paper!! I sure hope Santa reads my letter to him this year. LOL

I used this fabulous Texture Paste with Gold Mica Flakes in it. How cool is this stuff!!

I also used Liquid Pearls to make the heart shaped buttons on her vest.. I love how it looks on this. I ordered more colors of it.. I never did use it much but plan to use Liquid Pearls a lot more now.

I sure hope I start to feel better soon. Tim Holtz started his 12 days of Christmas Tags which I'm going to need to play catch up on and I need to do some swaps I'm involved in and finish up my Christmas Cards and get them out in the mail.

This year sure has gone fast. Last month flew by!! It's the holiday season already and I'm not even prepared for all the creations I have wanted to do.. woooh is me. LOL

Grungy Monday on Friday

I used a lot of Texture Paste on this piece and Fierro which shimmers and shines. I love it!!

I'm still at it

I'm still at it drawing Whimsy gals .. right now I'm concentrating on my shading.. sometimes it's too much and sometimes not enough.. or it looks ragged and not good at all. Last night I just got so frustrated I threw a perfectly good drawing out in the trash.. Anxiety got the better of me.. LOL

Here is one I just finished. I'm uncertain about her hair.. My camera takes awful pictures also. It doesn't look so washed out in person.

A Nutter Christmas Card

I have this goal of making at least one Christmas Card per day now.. My goal before this was that last summer I would start on my cards. That didn't pan out.. at all! LOL so now I have this one and so far so good..

The card also qualifies for the Simon Says Challenge this week of make a card with a Ticket.

This is one of Timmy's Stamps. I stamped and then distressed it and use Glossy Accents on it.

The snowflakes were Dry Embossed using my Vagabond Machine

I inked up the Embossing Plate and then ran it through..

I cheated from my One Card a Day and created this card.

Today at Crafting with OWSE Cindi had a great video on Warm and Cool Colors and using

Tim's Distress Inks

My Palette was of Cool Colors

I used the Snow Writer glue stick to make the snow.. How fun that was that and sprinkled

Diamond Dust on it while it was drying..

Again on this one I used a Texture Fade of Tim Holtz but this time I did not ink up the plate but

inked my Substrate instead..

I used the reindeer die from Tim Holtz but create the number 25 on my Cricut

using the program "Makes the Cut"

I love love that program..

A lot of Stickles and glitter were used on this card and it shimmers all the way!! LOL

I guess my family and friends are going to be getting all different cards this year.

I just can't get down an assembly line and work for hours on cards like I usually do..

sign of old age?? maybe.. but then it just might be a sign of Lazy.. ROFL!!

19-21 is what I put on this Beeswax piece. Actually it's a piece of Tissue Paper and I put it on when I was doing some Layering with the tissue paper. I don't think it's appropriate but oh well.. LOL

I used Bees Wax, Tissue Tape, Film Strip Ribbon and the Background is painting with

When I finished this Whimsy Gal with her wild hair I showed it to my DH (Duh Hubby, LOL) and he said it looked just like the 70's... I guess it does remind me of the 70's with all the Paisley Patterns. Remember the dress coordinating with the tights.. All Paisley.. omg did I look cool! ROFL!!

Tam over at Willowing did some Fabulous Whimsy Portraits of Gals with will hair and she set a challenge to do some with yup wild hair.. This is what I came up with.. Not so wild but pretty cool hair huh? LOL

Ballerina

I love Ballerina's .. Heck I love Dance.. I used to be many moons ago a professional dancer.. Ohhh those wonderful years of being on the stage. The adrenalin rush was fantastic!! Nowadays' it's all I can do to bend over and pick something up... Old age has hit this old gal!! LOL

anywho I felt like working in Bee's Wax this morning. I got up about midnight and set to work on this piece. It has been awhile since I worked with Bee's wax. I forgot how much I like it.

I used Fiero again on the piece. It's a rust colored Texture Paste that has teeny tiny glitter in it. I so love it. I ordered a different color and can't wait till it comes in so I can play!

Altered Composition Book and an Art Journal Spread

Last night I was on a roll.. Not only did I finish one of my Whimsy Gals . I also finished an Art Journal Spread and altered a Composition Book. This book cost me a whopping quarter at Wally World (Walmart)..

I painted the Cover Black

and then with a Dry Brush brushed some white paint on

Let Dry and added the images.

I then added all that wonderful red Texture.. You should see it glimmer!

This Texture Paste called Fiorro has tiny pieces and I mean teeny tiny pieces of glitter in it.

It is made by Deco Art and yes it's in the shop

Doesn't this Gals Dress look Tie Dyed.. cool huh?

There must be at least 10 layers going on.

Layout and a Wood Portrait

I created this Layout yesterday. I love loved this paper and wanted to keep my LO nice and simple. this is what I came up with

I had this piece of wood like forever.

I picked it up at Walmart for .99cents

This Morning I decided to see how it goes creating one of my gals on wood

The only thing when the paint dried there is no way to fix mistakes..

I had to seal the wood at first so the paint wouldn't just get sucked up by the wood.

Once I got my gal onto the wood I colored it with my Neo Color Crayons and worked it like

it was on paper. I'm not sure if I was suppose to or not.. duh and duh again!! LOL

I'm thinking of putting a layer of bees wax over it.

what cha think?

Grungy Monday

Yesterday was Grungy Monday over at Linda's Studio L3.. She celebrates the Techniques of Tim Holtz. The challenge was to use Tim's Techniques on one of his Twelve Tags of Christmas. I believe it was 2009.

I created this Tag using some of Wendy Vecchi Stamps and the Techniques Tim showed

in his tutorial...

I used all Distress Inks, Snow Cap Paint Dabber and Archival Jet Black Ink

I stamped it and then stamped it again on a manilla piece of paper then cut out the crown

pop dotted it and put it over the original stamped image..

It really gave it some depth I think..

What a fun Tag this was to create and a nice break from Painting

I put Diamond Dust in it all over so it glimmers and shines.

Pretty Eyes

I've been working on my Blending on the faces of my Whimsy Gals.. Not sure if I am even getting the picture but I keep going with them.. I have been incorporating them into my Journal Pages Lately.. This one is not a Journal Page. I bought a sheet of Hot Press Water Color paper to try and I used it on this gal.. She has pretty eyes no?

I sure would like some input from my Mentor Tamara Laporte

but being she is one week due to have her baby me thinks she has other things

on her mind. LOL

Life Book starts in January and I can't wait.

One whole year of making Art and learning about ourselves.

Tam has some great teachers lined up for the classes plus herself.

Did I say I can't wait for this Workshop to start!!!

10 minute Challenge

Over at Linda's Studio L3 the challenge was to use a Tim Holtz product and create something within Ten Minutes. I created this Clean and Simple Card using Tim's Christmas Texture Fade, some Fired Brick Distress Inks. I put it on the Texture Fade itself. and Tim's Paper Stash "Christmas Memories". Just as my ten minutes was up I was putting the bow on. LOL

Last night I was on a roll creating these gals. I was up until the wee hours of the morning. Why? because I was nervous about an MRI I had to do today. I have panic attacks in these and I was afraid that would happen. Well I think My Angel was watching over me as I had none. It went smooth and I was cool , calm and collected. After Sedation. LOL

Tam makes it looks so easy but even though I'm doing faces I still can't draw.. or am afraid to muck it all up by drawing and not being able to erase what I draw because of layers of color.. wondering if others go through this..

Most Outrageous Stamp

Over at OWSE we are having our Challenges for the last half of October. For my Challenge I gave the gals the challenge to use their most Outrageous Stamp and create a Tag with it.. This also fit's the Challenge over at Stampotique.. Their Challenge is to Create a Tag. Easy Peasy my challenge fit's right in.. I just discovered this Stamp Company and I love love their Stamps. So unique and Different. I bought two of them and the quality of the stamps are fabulous. I will go back for more. This is one of the stamps I bought..

I had to make my hubby a Birthday card and couldn't even think of something masculine.. They are the hardest Cards for me to make.. I finally came up with this. I used a Resist Technique for the Background and Embossed the Humming Bird.. I used Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress Inks on the Background but the Broken China doesn't even show up in the picture. It really looks off color for sure.. oh well at least I have a masculine card. LMAO!! I Distressed the edges using my new Distrezz it all.

I'm entering this card in Simon Says Challenge.. The Challenge is "Things that Fly"..

I'm taking a few workshop by Tamara or better known as Willowing.. She is a fabulous teacher. well when I'm teachable I guess. I gave up yesterday for awhile and then heard one of her fabulous talks about the Monster within. The one that tells us we are no good at Artwork well at anything. You know the one. After a pep talk from Tam I went into her World Of Whimsy course and gave artwork another go. I came up with this Whimsical Gal. I don't like the Tissue paper on her and will probably put a blue wash over it but for now I'm okay.. at least my inner monster is. LOL

More with Art Parts

I'm having so much fun playing with Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts. I used them in this Layout and Card. On the Layout I used Acrylic paint on one and Distress Stain Peeled Paint on the other. I think it takes the paint better then the ink. Maybe I should have done two coats of the Stain.

I cut out the Frame on my Cricut then embossed it with just one Layer of Utee and I didn't on purpose put the Utee on the whole frame. I tried to get the look of Wood and Distressing.

I used Kraft Paper for the Frame and Tim Holt's "Lost and Found" papers for the Base.

It's a pretty simple LO for me. I like more layers usually.

I used a Tilda Stamp on this card. I only have two of them.. I keep saying I want to collect these.

But I never do.. boooo on me!! LOL

The flowers are Mostly from Prima except that Little Pink one on the right bottom corner. That is from Bazill.

I was half awake when I painted the Art Parts and it sure looks like I should

have opened both eyes. LMAO!!

I guess I had a Wendy Vecchi weekend. I used her art parts in this piece. Plus one of her stamps. I'm really liking working with her products. We have a full line of Wendy Vecchi Products over at OWSE

I painted all the pieces with Acrylic Paint and then put Glossy Accents on the Butterfly and

Crackle Accents on the Flower. I should have put glossy accents on the Jar.. duh!

The Background is done with Acrylics and Gesso

Inspiration Showcase Class

The Inspiration Showcase Class is almost over now and I have to start from scratch.. My dog ate my pieces of hearts! LOL Well She didn't actually eat them she knocked them over and I can't find a lot of them.. I didn't write down on the back of the hearts what technique was what so I look at them and give the Big DUH not knowing what technique a particular heart is.. so dumb of me.. Naturally!! LOL Some of the other gals in the class are so organized and know what is what. NOT ME!! ROFL!!

well anywho here is a card I made for Class #5 working with Distress Inks. this is the Technique where you take a background stamp and put a few different colors of Distress Inks on it and then mist it with water or the pearlized water. I have only three background stamps so it's been a really big pain in the you know what trying to figure out different things to do with them.. I know what I want for my Birthday.. A whole hell of a lot of Background Stamps. LOL

A scavenger Hunt

In one of my Yahoo Group Journal Challenges one of the gals did our weekly challenge as a Scavenger Hunt. I had sooo much fun doing this Art Journal Spread. Gathering the pieces for the hunt and applying them to my spread. I used this Terra Cotta Texture for the first time and am in love with it. This is a Deco Arts Product and we sell it at OWSE.. Some of the Elements in the Scavenger Hunt

was use an R and a F..

For the R I used Tissue Paper with Roses on it

For the F

I used a Flower Stencil

We were suppose to take something out of the Garbage and use it

I had just thrown an empty Paper Towel Roll into the garbage..

I cut this up and opened it and added the words Believe to it.

Then ran it through my Crimper and Distressed the Edges

Something from outside in the yard was needed so instead of gluing some tree branch

onto the spread I ran it through the Terra Cotta Texture stuff

to get those lines in it. Like scratches.

We had to have a bottle cap

well I have some but I'd be damned if I could find them

so I took a picture from the web and added three Layers of Clear UTEE to it..

A piece of Plastic I use one of Tim Holtz Fragments

We had to find a UPC Code and Add that.

We also needed a Piece of Metal and a Number

Once again I used a Tim Embellishment

I used Alcohol Ink to color the Metal

We need three colors of Acrylic Paint..

I am in love with Claudine Hellmuth's paints and used those.

then their had to be some kind of Circles - two of them on the Spread

I found this Double Circle Stamp and stamped randomly on the Spread

And Finally we needed an Image of someone Smiling..

I had this cute stamp and boy is she ever smiling. LOL

I colored the stamp with Gelatos..

Same with my Hearts

I counted all the elements needed and finally had them all on their.

I might not have mentioned them all. It's hard to remember. duh!!

This was sooo much fun to do.. It took me hours..

I started in the wee hours of the morning and finally finished

at 10:00 this morning..

Working on it little by little until I had all the components..

La Layout and Crackle Paste

My Large Art Journal Cover

I'm obsessed with Art Journaling. I created a journal spread just about every day.. Even if I'm in the darkest of moods. Is it doing me any good??? How would I know? LOL

well anywho I needed to do the cover of my Large Art Journal.. My DH (duh hubby) bought me this and it's LARGE!! so intimidating at times. with these big white pages staring at me. I borrowed a die from Cindi.. Tim Holtz's big butterfly and went to work doing my cover..

I used a lot of texture on the cover. I used Molding Paste and Texture Crackle from Deco Arts. This is a great product!! It is really hard to get out and spread but you can really get cool crackle from it. I bought the white and wanted to see if I could mix color with it and you can for sure. Just spread on the crackle and then mix the color in. You can't just mix. It's way to hard of a mixture.

While everything was still wet I sprinkled Diamond Dust all over it..

Boy does it ever sparkle!!

Using the Tim Holtz Fanciful Flight Die I glittered it and put behind the glittered layer some really cool paper.. I had kind of a hard time figuring this die out but in the end I got it going!!

The image is from one of my Tubes I had bought from the Artist Zindy Nielson. I printed it and cut it out. Cool Image huh?

I cut out the butterflies from the same paper that is behind the die..

This picture does the cover no justice.

It's really beautiful if I say so myself. LOL

Day 1 Inspiration Showcase

Yesterday was day one of the Class Inspiration Showcase and boy was it packed with information.

I am using hearts for each technique we learn and will place them on a 12x12 Canvas. Like it was done in the class.

Here is a card I made using the Kissing Technique of Resist. It came out very light and suttle. Can you see the picture of the woman raising her head up? duh

In Class 2 she works with the Kissing Technique again but I found the four background

stamps I have don't work very well with this technique.

I hope to order the stamps she used.. well maybe if I get some money and the

creek don't rise!! ROFL

I played with Bees Wax today.. I wanted to know if I can use acrylic paint on my canvas and then stamp on it then layer the beeswax over it. After the Acrylic Paint I used tissue paper then stamped.. well I found out yes I can! Over everything I used my Perfect Pearls to give it a sheen. I love love Perfect Pearls. I got the image on the internet and the car is from a Tim Holtz stamp set I have.

Grungy Monday on Friday

Last Monday Linda over at Studio L3 had her Grungy Monday Challenge. You are suppose to use the Tim Holtz Facets or Fragments doing one of three Techniques he gives a tutorial on.

I tried the technique where you make a Transfer using Packing Tape

wow this was so much fun and it worked!!

I've been trying to do transfers using my ink jet printer and haven't had too much luck

but this technique does work!

I used one of Wendy Vecchi's Art Part and painted it then Glimmer Misted the Stem

and then added Diamond dust to the Flower.

Learning to Shade with Copics

My Inner Gremlin

I'm in this Yahoo Group - Artists of the Round Table.. we are doing this workshop using the book

Raw Art Journaling by Quinn Mcdonald.. It's a really cool book if you are into Art Journaling. I bought mine at Amazon.. Well anywho Quinn is doing the workshop at the Yahoo Group and our first lesson was to do a spread on our Inner Gremlin.. I just bought a sketch book to find out if I can indeed draw. I have always said I can't draw a stick figure right. Was that my Inner Gremlin saying that before I had even tried??? I have never tried to draw! How can I say I can't when I don't even know!!

We had to Journal our Inner Gremlin talking to us and then positive reinforcement after hearing all the negative from the Gremlin..

Not so Grungy Monday

Linda over at Studio L3 is having a Distress Stickles Party! in other words this weeks Grungy Monday challenge is to use Distress Stickles.Distress Stickles is a Ranger Product that Tim Holtz always brags about.. Want to know more about Tim, visit his blog here..

well I had in mind what I wanted to do but I tried two times and each time I did something and then covered it with Rock Candy Distress Stickles I had ink all over the place. I tried them with Perfect Pearls and Twinkling h20's .. both ran when the stickles were applied. boooo on Distress Stickles. LOL so I covered my piece with some paper and just used the Perfect Pearls on my image and the Distress Stickles on my Butterflys. Hurray!! I finally got this piece done with out throwing it out in the garbage! LOL

I used a Blue Perfect Pearls but it looks Black in the picture..

I used Green on the Leaf border

I'm also entering this in Simon Says

Fun with Art Parts

I just got this Book "Make Art" by Wendy Vecchi.. I got book #2. They are all sold out but we have book #3 on sale at OWSE..

Anyways I was reading it this morning and then got inspired by one of her pieces. She gives full instructions how to make each piece in the book. Well I'm just starting to collect Wendy Vecchi stamps and didn't have any she used in the book so I improvised. I used stamps I had and when it called for some kind of part like the heart for instance I drew it. I didn't know I could draw. ROFL!!

I drew the Hearts, House, Flowers, stems and door.. whew what fun I had!! For about two hours I was totally immersed in doing this piece. I used Grunge Paper for the parts. Love that Grunge Paper!!

Wendy suggests keeping all your little grunge board pieces to back your part with. Instead of that sticky foam stuff like foam dots. I took her suggestion and this works out so good.

I found that my perception is off. Everything I drew was big.. My piece is 5x5 but I kept drawing like it was a huge canvas. Eventually I got everything sort of to scale. Not like hers but what the hay!! LOL

I have a new Grand Nephew!! My Nephew Matt and his wife Nancy (the doctor) just had a beautiful baby boy!! His name is Justin Goodwin.. He is Gorgeous!! My Nephew just graduated College and is going on to Law School so there is a lot going on in his life right now.. I am so happy for both of them!!

I grabbed a picture of Justin on Facebook and did a Layout with it. The first of many I'm sure!

I first inked the edges of my 12x12 paper

with Walnut Stain Distress Ink

then in my stash of paper I found this Graphic 45 piece of paper and

distressed the edges heavily with my Distress tool

I stitched around the 12x12 paper and the top of the scrap piece of paper not really trying

to stay straight..

I then cut a strip of the Graphic 45 paper I had another scrap of and created the border

which I put underneath a big torn edge of the first piece of scrap paper..

Then I thought what else does this need.. flowers of coarse!!

I took out my White Petaloo Flowers .. They are the "Wild Roses" and are just right for painting.

I painted them with Perfect Pearls.

The best technique for doing that is to spritz a little water on your crafts mat and put a little of the perfect pearls in it.. The mat stays wet and it's so easy to clean up.

With Perfect Pearls you do not need a fixative they have one build in..

Sometimes I use Pearl Ex or Twinkling h20's with both I spray with hairspray when I'm done ..

When the flowers were completely dry I inks the edges of them with Walnut Stain to give them

some contrast in color..

I then scrunched them back up to give them their form back..

You really need to do this just before they are totally dry and then again after their dry..

I added the little Safety Pin from this Page Kit I just bought called

The Wild West

I was playing with my Alchohol Inks this morning. Well about 8-9 hours ago I started before I had to go out and get some blood work done. Yeah the vampires took all my blood today! LOL

anywho I got this background done and as soon as I saw the results of smearing my Glossy Card Stock through the inks on my work mat I thought of Tucson. I lived their 30 years and saw a lot of the Wild West. From Gun fights in the bars (LOL) to the Copper Mines and the Silver Jewelry sold by a lot of my friends. yes there was a gun fight in this seedy Biker Bar I used to hang at. Don't even get me started on a chapter of my life. ROFL!!

anywho again once I thought of Tucson I thunked now what can I do with this background to reflect the feeling of the Old West and then I went like ah Duh I have that great Stamp Set of Tim Holtz's.. So out it came and I went to work.. I embossed the Saloon image once I stamped it on the background and inked the edges with Distress Ink - Walnut Stain.. Then I took the Saying "Wild West" and stamped it on a Shipping Tag. I love using Shipping Tags to stamp saying on. They are so nice and sturdy and look so old when you ink them up.. I embossed this with "Pirates Gold" embossing powder and yup inked it up on the edges and some in the Shipping Tag itself. To give it an old look.. I used my Vagabond Machine and created a Rosette .. I put a little of the Rub n Buff Copper and put some of this on the Rosette then added the button from once again Timmy. Then I needed another piece to put this on. I took apart a piece of cardboard and with my blending tool used some more Walnut Distress Stain. I then took some more Rub n Buff this time the "Gold" and put that on the raised part of the corrugated cardboard. I grabbed two washers and two brads of Tim's and added that and then once again with the Alcohol Inks ( Ginger) I added it to the clip.. I then sanded it a little bit to get an old tarnished look.. Voila !! My piece was done!

It's another Tequila Sunrise no it was Grungy Monday

Linda over at Studio L3 has a really Cool Challenge this week using a Tim Holtz technique of coarse. We used plastic wrapping and Dry Embossed it. I created this ATC card doing this technique. You can barely see my embossed plastic in the picture. I tried and tried different angles but I couldn't get it to come out.. Trust me it's really cool!!

I started off with Tim's Wrinkle Free Distress Technique for the background. Using Broken China and Weathered Wood Distress Inks. Then I stamped the snowflakes with the medium Perfect Pearls give you when you buy a kit. Then I brushed the perfect pearls "Forever Blue" over the card and brushed it off with a fatter brush..You get these brushes also in the kits.. It shimmers so beautifully! I edged my card with some Brushed Corduroy.. I stamped the Snowman on Grunge board with Versamark and then embossed with black embossing powder. Cut it out and then used the Pearl Paint Dabber. I can't find my Snow Cap Paint Dabber. duh.. Stamped the Sentiment and attached it to the card with some Glossy Accents. Then I cut a 2 1/2 by 3/12 peice of plastic paper.. Embossed it using my Vagabond Machine. and using the washer and some brads put it over the ATC Card.

It's a pretty simple little ATC Card but ohhh so cute!!

I wish the plastic Wrap would have shown up for you guys to see the effect.

It looks like a sheet of ice covering the card.

Watercolor Crayons

I bought some watercolor crayons for my Art Journaling but decided to try them with creating a card. What I did was color the stamp with them. Then I spritzed using my mini mister with a little water and stamped repeatedly each time re coloring my stamp .. I blended some Old Linen Distress Inks and Black Soot Distress Inks .. Stamped my saying and Voila one card coming right up!! It was simple and easy but I really like the look..

Oh yeah I used Glossy Cardstock.

I want to try some of that Kryogen Cardstock I have

Bees Wax is fun!

Well I got inspired finally after whining to the gals all day in the OWSE Yahoo group how I hate summer.. This is the Piece I came up with.

I'm so used to over doing my pieces with stuff. I wanted to put some pearls and flowers all over this piece but made myself stop. Trying to do the "Less is More' Theory LOL

the Distress Stains .. I'm loving these! More information on how I did the Background is on my blog post below this one.. The Technique I used from Tim's tutorial was to bake the ink into the Vellum to make the paper look like Parchment. I don't know why but mine no matter how long I heated it wouldn't smoke like it was supposed to. It came out okay but I wanted the smoke!! LOL I also used my On the Edge Die for the bottom. I used the "Ornate" die. and yes you can purchase it at Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium fondly called OWSE.. I also used Black UTEE for the Butterflies.. Tim used embossing powder in his technique but I wanted to go a bit further with it. I had a lot of fun with the Challenge this week.

I had been waiting for it as my Mojo has suddenly come back to me after a weeks hiatus!

I couldn't create anything for about a week. I'd sit at my work desk and not a thing would inspire me. I have about three projects going on and didn't feel like working on any..

It's the damn weather! Hotter then hell here in Indiana!! Come on Winter.. I really hate hate hate the summers. And they are getting worse every year..

Distress Stains and me

SI hardly ever use my Distress Stains. This morning I decided to get them out and give a go. I put one color on my mat and swiped my glossy cardstock through it. Dried it real good and then a second color and second layer. Same does with drying. Time for a third Layer of color. When all was dry I spritzed with water..Then over the background I stamped Tim's Papillion stamp with Vintage Photo Distress INk..I used my Martha Stewart Punch for the bottom.. I stamped my ATC Collage using this special ATC Paper from LaBlanche Studio. Added that after distressing with some Black Soot. I then created the butterfly out of Acetate and painted it with Alcohol Inks.

Added some bling and a button and Voila one tag for a Challenge over at OWSE..

I'm also entering this into Simon Says Stamp.. I have never entered anything of mine there before. Their challenge is to make a tag. Fits huh? LOL

Envelope Card

I have on one of my Cricut Cartridges a die of an envelope.. I was playing with it the other day and got this idea to make a card with it..

Soooo I set the Cricut to cut at 5 inches. Then folded it .... I then worked on the inside of the card. Stamping my images, cutting them out. Distressing using Walnut Distress Ink.. I used the Paper from Graphic 45 the" Renaissance Fair" Collection.. Once I was done on the inside I decided to use a piece of Trim to close the card and put a small piece of Velcro on the end.. Then I added one of my hand made flowers made from Satin Material. I need to make some more of these flowers. They are so much fun to make.

Rock Candy Stickles and it's Grungy Monday again

Another Monday has come around and this week over at Linda's Studio L3 we are using Rock Candy Stickles and/or Rock Candy Crackle Paint. I created this tag using Timmy's Distress Inks to begin with and then stamped my image.. I then created a mask and put it over the image and proceeded to stamp the script stamp down the tag.. Time to emboss the edges. I took the Tim Holtz Embossing Ink and ran it down the edges and used Peeled Paint Distress Embossing Powder.. Heated it up and I have this cool grungy border.. I put the mask back on and used the Rock Candy Stickles all over the tag except the image. Stamped the saying on a small tag and cut it up in pieces. I put some Rock Candy Crackle Paint on the pieces but you can not see it at all.. boooo! Then adhered it to my tag with pop dots. Of coarse last came some fibers. Oh yeah I can't forget I created the tiny flower I put in her hair.. and that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! LOL This was a really quick and fun tag to make.. Once again my camera sucks.. The tag is actually green using shabby shutters distress with a touch of Scattered Straw and Weathered wood.. anyone want to buy this gal a new camera??? ROFL!!

Grungy Monday

Yesterday was Grungy Monday and I waited to the wee hours to start my piece. This week we are using Grungeboard and Grunge Paper and doing what ever.. My what ever is this wall hanging .. I pulled out all my supplies.. Rock Candy Stickles, Rock Candy Crackle Paint , Paint Dabbers, Alchohol Inks and Perfect Pearls plus my steampunk cuttle bug embossing folder ... All this went on my what ever. LOL

Altering Domino's

Boy did I have fun doing this Challenge from our Christmas in July party over at OWSE.. I altered some Dominoe's and used a Canvas. Lot's of Acrylic Paint and Gesso.

I even managed to do a Transfer from this Collage Sheet I had. The medium I used mostly on the domino's was Alcohol inks.. I tell ya if you haven't tried to alter one of these you had better get to it. sooooo much fun!!

creating Vintage flowers

I've been sitting and waiting for months for a circle die to come in from my distributor. I wan to create Lollipop flowers. I'm sooo stupid sometimes. There I have the Tattered Floral Die from Tim Holtz and I didn't even think to use it.. why because it's not a circle??? duh and duh again!! so anywho this morning I tried to cut my satin fabric with it and would you believe it cut like butter!! Not like my Cricut which is on strike this week. I'm having such problems with it. Well anywho again once I cut this fabric I said to meself okay now what? so I cut about 10 of these out and I grabbed my heat tool and a long tweezer and went to work melting the fabric. rolling the petals and melting them. Add a feather, some pearls and a leaf and I came up with this.

i'm going to I think add some crystal Stickles to it to give it some shimmer..

The picture does it no justice. It looks so much better in person..

So tell me what do you peoples think?

I would love any comments even if you hate them!! ROFL!!

I've been up all night .. first I started working on a Serendipity Swap I'm in. Not finished yet. Then I got this idea to alter slides. What fun I had playing with these. On the slides I used some distress inks and then stamped it with a script stamp.. I had to cut out the inside plastic of the slide or it would have been full of ink. I'd like to get some transparencies but I just used my printer to print out these images. I created this little mini slides book.. Aren't these images fabulous!!

It's a Perfect Pearls Day or maybe it's not

I created this tag for Grungy Monday over at Studio L3 using a Technique from Tim Holtz but it didn't come out right. In the picture you can't even see the shimmer from the Perfect Pearls. In real life you see it a little bit. First I sprayed with a mixture of Perfect Pearls and reinkers and water. Then I stamped the scroll work with the media and brushed Perfect pearls on the tag. After I got all done I painted the flowers with Perfect Pearls. You can maybe see it on them. If you want to know how to do the first Technique here is the Link to Tim's Blog where he shows you how to do make the spray mixture. Maybe I didn't put enought Perfect Pearls in. duh

Well after a month of no hot water as we didn't have a hot water heater that worked we finally have one!! My hubby and his brother put in a hot water heater today and the first thing I did was go soak in the tub for about an hour!! OMG!! don't ever take hot water for granted. Karma will bite you in the ass and you will be without!! ROFL!! I'm a happy camper today!

I worked on this Bee's Wax Collage today whilest they were working on the heater. It's for the 4th. of July.. Happy 4th. everyone!

It's a Grungy Monday.. for sure when you don't have a Hot Water Heater but it's also Grungy Monday at Studio L3.. Today we are working with Alcohol Inks. I don't have that many but I used the one's I have and came up with this Tag. I inked, embossed, glossy accented, distress embossed and voila one tag!! . oh why I mentioned no hot water heater is we have none. well we have one but it don't work... I bath once a week at a friends house.. otherwise I boil water to clean myself.. fun huh.. Friday is pay day and my hubby is going to try to put one in. Guess who's not getting paid this month. yup the owner of this substandard house we moved into. The guy won't even call us back about it. I could go on and on about the bad luck we have had lately but won't .. not even a little. LOL

Anywho here is the tag I created.

Oh yeah I also used Perfect pearls and glimmer mist. I took it all out for this tag. LOL

I'm Back Finally

Wow what a journey this chapter of my life has been. We moved into this house and the gal who owns it went Loco.... She wanted it back and made our lives miserable until we left it. She changed the electric back into her name and shut it off, she had a friend of her which was a sheriff come and threaten us. We had no money to move , she had all our money about $1700.00 plus the money we put in to paint and pay a painter. Well have no fear the gals from my Yahoo Group came to the rescue and donated money for us to move!! There are no words that I can think of for the gratitude I feel for all those gals. I love each and every one of them for helping us this way. We would have been in the streets and under a bridge and lost our fur babies. I was soooo scared. Out of my wits. This house we moved into has some problems, like no hot water,but it's a roof over our head and I am so grateful to those woman..

anywho I lost my Mojo for awhile being so depressed over what happened to my hubby and me. My doctor has put me on meds that seem to be helping me sleep and snap out of the depression. Thanks Doc!! anywho again I created this Tag with Graphic 45 paper "Curtain Call" for another Yahoo Group I'm in.. It is a swap so someone will get this tag..

Maybe me Mojo has returned??? Ya think!

I did a Steampunk Layout around my St. Bernard Hannah.. this LO was so much fun creating..

I layered the DP's which are mostly from Tim Holtz Crowded Attic Paper Stash. The cutout of the leg and crow is from Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante paper..

I used my new Gears Die and did the Rusted Grunge Technique on them..

Grungy Monday

wow a whole week has gone by since I posted to my blog. We have moved and now the real work has started. Unpacking!! My new/old house is wall to wall boxes and we have been working all weekend on it. My studio is basically unpacked but three boxes are missing. My Albums, My Blank Canvas's and my Done Projects for Swaps. My DH (duh Hubby) most likely put them in the garage with a thousand other boxes and I'll find them at Christmas. I have to find the projects that are finished for Yahoo Group swaps or I'm in deep doo doo.

anywho I worked on this Tag for Grungy Monday as I was taking a break yesterday.. I'm not sure if I like how it came out. It's quite dark and not Shabby Chic at all as the technique from Tim Holtz calls for. Speaking about Tim, check out his blog for some fabulous techniques and what's up and coming from him..

so anywho again as I said about (look above) this tag is for Studio L3 Grungy Monday..

I used Three Dabbers one blue and two browns but the brown kind of over took the poor blue.

I also used a different kind of clear embossing powder. It's for deep etching.

It has a little bit of bling on it when you emboss with it..

and I used my small rosette die again from Tim Holz

cut them in half to make like an old fashioned banner..

This was a new technique to me and it was a lot of fun to do..

Grungy Monday and I'm all Packed

I'm all packed in my Crafts room to go to the new/old house. I did it last night but then I went to Studio L3 and saw the Grungy Monday Challenge and I had to play! LOL I had few supplies I could use. One safety pin I found on my desk, the inks and a bit of paper left over from some other project. One file folder and My Stamps which aren't packed yet either. I put this together with the supplies.

I guess I better finish packing for the new/old house before I drag everything

out again. ROFL

Say Hot Bees Wax

I created this tag using Hot Bee's Wax.. I love using that medium now.. Until we move next week I'm kind of limited with it as so much of my supplies are already packed. Like my stylus and crayons but I managed to get this tag done with just the iron and ohhh yeah the frame and gal I heated up some Utee and dipped it into it. I'm still not having the greatest of luck with that technique but am trying.

I couldn't get that glare out of the picture so it kinda looks funny but it's not really there.

My New Rosette Dies

I wanted to try out my Rosette die I got about a week ago. They finally came in from our Distributor.. so I created this Canvas using them.. There are so many way you can use them and change them around. I just did it Timmy's way. I tell ya there not so easy to mush down to put them in the shape of the Rosette. One you get it it's fine but until I did I had a bit of a hard time.

Next time I think I will maybe use tokens or some other circle in the middle of them. I did put crackle paint on the button but you can't see it.

Let them Eat Cake is what it says on My Tag.. Of coarse it's Marie on the tag.. This is the theme this week over at Jeanette's Soartful challenge blog... I did a lot of distressing on this tag. and a alot of glimmer mist over the dry embossing and the lace.. I created the tiny flowers following a tutorial by my Friend Penny Duncan. Thank you Penny.. Cut out the flower petals with my Cricut and painted with Perfect Pearls. .. Don't they look like the Prima flowers sort of. LOL

I also used Rub and Buff Gold to give it it's gold sheen on the Dry Embossing.

Over at Studio L3 they are having Grungy Monday once again and this time it's Timmy's Color Blocking Technique. Well as soon as I got done I was reminded of a Patchwork Quilt. I was going to do some sewing on this but the machine is packed and waiting to go over to the new/old house so anywho I took out my new Sewing Form Die and put a skirt on it. I don't sew well peoples so this is the best it gets!! LOL

Utee Again and our new Home

Hey Everyone I played with Utee again. I just love love love it.. This time I created an ATC card with the Theme Paris. It was suppose to be for a 1/1 swap but when I went to upload it to this group I'm in the instructions said to make a 3x5. Duh stupid ole me made an ATC.. Oh well it will go in my personal Collection..

After I created this I wanted to see what using "Molding Paste" was all about.

I did a 4x4 canvas and added some of the paste to it.

Then I inked over it once it dried. What beautiful texture it did.

I created this 4x4 using Foam Stamps.

I love Foam Stamps. They are so easy to use.

This is for my new/old house I'm moving into.

My hubby and I over the last few years have moved a lot. I mean A LOT!! never really

getting to settle down. I'm hoping this is the last move we make.

I put Home in the right side but used a "Wander" token from Tim Holtz.

I feel like a Gypsy, always moving.

Maybe it's time to stop Wandering! Ya think?

It's a pretty simple 4x4. I just wanted to see how this Molding Paste did.

It's Grungy Monday!!

It's Grungy Monday and today we are doing a technique from Timmy created a faux wood appearance. It's done with Paint Dabbers and Distress Ink. The picture is so bad you can't hardly see it but it looks pretty cool..

The flowers were created using Perfect Pearls, you can't even see them shimmer in the photo

Utee and Me

My first time working with Utee was today and I'm not sure about it. The jury is still out! In my melting pot I had no luck at all. I then used it to create this frame with and that was a success after the third try. I used embossing ink then covered it with Utee and embossed then covered it again after getting it hot again and embossed. Then got it hot again and with a stamp using Stazon Brown ink I stamped it and pressed hard. Then I had gold rub and buff and buffed it. The I put the brown ink on my finger and rubbed a very little bit. It came out looking really cool for someone not knowing what they were doing! LOL The frame was cardboard to begin with. LOL

another Beeswax canvas

I played today with Beeswax again. The picture does it no justice. It's just glimmering with the perfect pearls and some Glimmer Mist in the background. Using glimmer mist with canvas I found tricky. I tried to get away without Gesso and found I needed it for the glimmer mist to look okay. I need to finish off the sides but some of the crackle accents are still drying. thats the shine you see in the lower left corner.

at the last moment I added the trim. LOL My Hubby says I can't stop once I start

No white space for me!! LOL

A Bookmark for my Mother In Law

I created this Bookmark for my MIL for Mother Day.. There is a story behind me creating a bookmark for her. She is going blind and used to love to read. We used to trade books regularly. The past two years she couldn't read a thing. Then recently she went to this doctor that did some tests on her eyes. He decided he can operate and she will regain back some of her sight.. with the help of magnifying she will be able to read again!! I am so happy for her I thought she would like a bookmark to mark the beginning of her being able to read again. Maybe now we can start trading books again.

our New/Old House

The gals over at OWSE want to see pictures of the New/Old House I am moving into come June 3rd. This house was built in 1865. It looks like an old school house. All Brick but the back end which is an add on. That is going to be my Studio when we are finished with it. We have to side it or paint it. Next spring probably.

Well here are the pictures. Voila!

The first is the back end of the house with the horrible decks. they are going and we

will build a nice deck.

This is a picture of the Canning House. We are going to preserve this.

We will put a new roof on it and fix the brick on the structure.

I might get back into Ceramics and get a kiln.

But that's down the road. way down! LOL

Here is the front view. See the Chimney.. it's going to be replace.

We need a roof like soon!!

I plan to sit on this porch alot!

It needs a good scrubbing down.

I have a glider swing that will go perfect here. Sit and glide , sit and glide.

Sounds so nice!

View of the backyard. It's 3 acres and leads to our new pond.

Dah Hubby is going to clean the pond, put some sand in so we can swim in it.

Playing with Beeswax and Crayons

I have been playing with Beeswax and Crayons and having a ball!! This is my first time using a Canvas and I love it.. First I used Gesso and covered the Canvas. Then glued my paper down using Gel Medium. Then I added my Collage pieces with layers of Beewax over them. I took crayons and smudged the heated wax all over and then my iron to smooth it all out .. I also used a hot wax stylus tool.. Suz Weinberg has some great tutorial videos on using Beeswax and collages. All of my embellishments are stuck on the canvas with the beeswax. It's a great glue!! LOL

I wasn't sure I was liking this piece until I put the golden perfect pearls on and it somehow all came together. oh yeah and don't put your last embellishments like lace on until your totally done all all of the mediums will get on it.. I decided once the perfect pearls got on the lace that Yup that's what I wanted to do all along! NOT!! LOL

Michaels had a sale on Canvas so I bought 4 of these little ones.
